Super Group

STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE-UOB raises target on Super Group to S$3.00

UOB Kay Hian raised its target price on Super Group Ltd to S$3.00 from S$2.55 and maintained its 'buy' rating, citing the company's good execution track record and upside potential from rebranding efforts.
Super manufactures, packages and distributes instant cereal flakes, beverages, coffee powder and other convenience food products. Its shares were up 2.7 percent at S$2.30 on Tuesday and have surged 75 percent so far this year.
UOB said a successful rebranding exercise could allow Super to gradually raise product prices, which are currently 8-10 percent below the levels of peers such as Nestle. This is critical amid volatile raw material prices, UOB noted.
The brokerage said it also sees promising growth prospects for consumer branded goods in key markets such as Thailand and Myanmar, which could deliver top-line growth of more than 10 percent per annum.

STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE-Smaller offshore firms attractive
- Maybank Maybank Kim Eng said robust activities in rig-building would filter down the value chain and it is time to start looking at the smaller offshore support services companies, many of which are trading at single-digit price-earnings ratios.

Maybank's top pick is Ezion Holdings Ltd due to the company's expected earnings per share compound annual growth rate of 36 percent over the next three years.

In the offshore construction space, Ezra Holdings Ltd and Swiber Holdings Ltd have accumulated strong order books, Maybank said.

The broker also highlighted module fabricators like Dyna-Mac Holdings Ltd and Technics Oil and Gas Ltd , as well as offshore support vessel builders and charterers who may be potential beneficiaries.

The ST outlook remains bullish.

10 July 2012
(Extracted from Macquarie Singapore Daily Newsletter)

Singapore
The Straits Times index declined by 1.66% on Monday. After the closing bell, 90% of the index constituents were above their 20D MA (vs 97% last Friday), and 87% of the shares were above their 50D MA (vs 93%). From a chartist standpoint, the index corrected on the downside yesterday, as the RSI (14) is reversing down from its "overbought" area at 70%. Nevertheless, the ST bias is still bullish, as the index remains well supported by its rising 20-day simple moving average, which has just crossed above the 50-day one (a bullish signal). To sum up, as long as the key support at 2845 holds on the downside, expect a limited consolidation before a new bounce to 3030 and 3110 in extension.

OCBC raises Golden Agri target price

04-07-2012 09:25:25 (UOB-KH Online News)
STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE-OCBC raises Golden Agri target price

OCBC Investment Research raised its target price for palm oil firm Golden Agri-Resources Ltd to S$0.81 from S$0.74 and kept its 'buy' rating, citing a possible recovery in crude palm oil (CPO) prices.

By 0114 GMT, Golden Agri shares were flat at S$0.72, and have gained 0.7 percent since the start of the year, underperforming the benchmark Straits Times Index's 12 percent rise.

Golden Agri, the second largest palm oil plantation owner in the world, stands to benefit from a rebound in CPO prices, OCBC said.

"We believe that a recovery of CPO prices is likely, given the concerns over the impact of a prolonged drought in the U.S. mid-west, affecting the potential supply of soybean crop," OCBC said in a report.

Soybean and CPO prices have a strong correlation of 0.85, indicating that CPO prices will likely mirror a rise in soybean prices, it added.

STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE

22-06-2012 13:09:42

Singapore shares slid to a one-week low, in line with other Asian bourses as weak manufacturing data from the United States, Europe and China fuelled concerns over the global economy.

Rig builder Sembcorp Marine Ltd was the largest loser on the index, retreating 2.2 percent to S$4.54 as weak oil prices also hurt sentiment. Larger rival Keppel Corp Ltd lost 1.5 percent at S$10.06.

Palm edges up on U.S. dry weather outlook

Published : Tuesday June 19, 2012 MYT 1:23:00 PM

(Malaysia Star)

Malaysian palm oil futures gained on Tuesday on expectations of higher demand as dry U.S. weather could damage the soybean crop further, tightening global edible oil supply. A victory by pro-bailout parties in the Greek polls over the weekend appears to have lessened the risk for a renewed financial crisis, sending palm oil futures to close just below the RM2,900-mark on Monday. But as optimism began to fade in financial markets, dry weather cues came into play as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said unfavourable weather had damaged soybean crop quality. "Prices should remain positive with the Greeks behind us. Dry weather in the U.S. Midwest also supports a bullish stance," said a trader with a local commodities brokerage in Malaysia.

Palm Oil

SINGAPORE, June 15 (Reuters)
- Malaysian palm oil futures closed slightly higher on Friday,
driven by rising exports and stronger global markets, although
gains were limited by jitters ahead of the Greek polls set for
this weekend. Investors took comfort in the news that major
central banks were preparing to take steps to stabilise financial
markets, providing support for palm oil prices.

STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE-Shares down at midday, Genting drags

Singapore shares fell by midday, dragged down by casino operator Genting Singapore PLC and investors retreating from risky assets on concerns about global growth.Genting shares plunged as much as 4.5 percent to a two-month low after it posted a decline in quarterly earnings and several brokerages lowered their target prices.

"If you look at the latest economic data that we've had this week, export growth is slowing in China and in Taiwan. ************ 11:21 UPDATE 1-STOCKS NEWS SINGAPORE
-Brokers upgrade Noble after results. Several brokers upgraded their ratings on Noble Group Ltd , citing an improved outlook after the Singapore-listed commodities company posted its first-quarter results.
Noble shares were down 1.3 percent at S$1.155 at 0316 GMT, slightly underperforming the broader Straits Times Index <.FTSTI> which lost 0.6 percent. Noble stock has gained more than 2 percent so far this year.

CIMB Research said a strong rebound in Noble's energy and metals, minerals and ores segment more than offset seasonal weakness from its agricultural division in its first quarter. Noble will be a beneficiary of improving economies and new Chief Executive Yusuf Alireza brings a renewed focus on profits, CIMB added. It upgraded Noble to outperform from trading buy and raised its price target to S$1.42 from S$1.40.

DMG & Partners Securities said it was positive on Noble on the back of increased confidence in its earnings outlook, stronger performance from sugar with the April-December production cycle and potentially better crushing margins in China.

SembMar (SMM) 3% stake changing hand

SembMar (SMM) 3% stake changing hand

This morn, SMM gapped down from 5.40 (prev close) to 5.20 (open) to mid-day low 5.12 due to Temasek sel ling 3% stake in SMM.
I checked my UOBKH trades journal, it included 62.4 million shares' married deal at 5.25 (not shown in the daily chart as tx in pre-trading hours not included).
Hence, 5.25 could be used as the reference for valuating SMM's fair value.
Of interest to SMM and SembCorp shares holders is that Temasek still holds 49.5+ % of SembCorp which in turn holds controlling interest in SMM [reported on the ST paper today].

TA-wise, the daily chart BB is squeezing, the hourly chart stoch hooked up from oversold zone n Macd turns 4r3g, seems to suggest tt the stock may consolidate abv 5.12 with immediate Resistance DMA20~5.25 (is also the price of the married deal  ).
